Join us on Friday, May 3rd, on the Courthouse lawn for Fiesta de Mayo, an annual celebration of Latin culture. A homemade salsa contest, Latin music, and a variety of cuisine will be available for all to enjoy from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cultural fare from food truck vendors such as Kickback Shack, Chazitos, Kona Ice and the Taco Truck will be served all night long. Many other vendors and downtown businesses will be present so you can shop local for your perfect Mother’s Day gift. Sample and vote for your favorite salsa while you learn about new businesses downtown.
“We are very excited to see a new downtown business open this weekend. Southern Accent has lazer art and can personalize just about anything, portraits, wood, tumblers, rocks and more. They are local and we shop local!”
Throughout the night, a DJ sponsored by El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant will be providing music to get you on your feet and dance the night away! Core Credit Union, a major sponsor for Fiesta de Mayo, will be bringing their photo booth for everyone to get their pictures taken to remember the night for years to come.
Vote the tastiest salsa in town, or participate in the homemade salsa contest. Sign up is available online, following a link on our website at www.statesborodowntown.com. Participants are welcome to bring their best salsa recipes to the Courthouse lawn for a chance to win prizes. The recipes will be judged during the event.
Bring cash and buy a brand new DSDA t-shirt for just $15! They come in assortment of trendy colors and sizes.
Fiesta de Mayo is a great chance to connect with vibrant Latin culture in the heart of downtown Statesboro. It is also a great opportunity for the community to learn more about local businesses, artists, and craftsmen, and how they contribute to a town that we can all be proud of. Be sure to check out all of the First Friday vendors!
