STATESBORO, Ga., June 3, 2019– It’s that time of the year again, Staycation is back! Join us Friday, June 7, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. This free event will be hosted by our own Downtown Statesboro Development Authority.
We know how tricky, time-consuming, and expensive it can be planning out ways to spend the summer. Staycation is here to relieve you from that stress. We have gathered vendors from all over Statesboro to show you a great time isn’t more than a few blocks away. Learn about all the different activities and delicious food our local businesses have to offer. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the festivities!
The event will include live music from Brandi Harvey sponsored by Chicken Salad Chick. Enjoy food, art, and a variety of vendors from our favorite downtown shops. Start your summer off right as you spend it with friends and family while listening to the music of our local artist and great food.
Harvey garnered the moniker “The Sound of Downtown” when she began playing weekly shows in Downtown Statesboro. Since that time, she has gained recognition across the southeast for her standout performances and spectacular, powerhouse vocals, as well as her support and promotion of other up and coming artists in the area. She is currently producing her first solo album – which will be fully funded through her Kickstarter campaign – and is set to be released in November.
“I’m lucky to have the opportunity to perform at different venues in various cities, but Statesboro is my home. It’s where I feel most inspired and receive the most support. There’s nothing like performing on a First Friday in Downtown Statesboro,” Harvey said.
Some of our vendors include Chicken Salad Chick, Nonna Picci, Chazito’s Latin Cuisine, A&J Funnel Cakes, Tormenta FC, Kickback Shack, Party Harbor, Jumpshot, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, The Clubhouse, Ellis Travel Trailers, GSU Shooting Sports Education Range, and Visit Statesboro, just to name a few. First Fridays are perfect for all ages! There will be activities for children and a bounce house provided by Party Harbor.
Feel free to take the time before and after the event to walk around and check out the businesses in Downtown Statesboro. Grab a coffee from CAKE & Cool Beanz Espresso Bar; enjoy food and games from Eagle Creek Brewery Company, or dinner and treats at Sugar Magnolia. Also catch up on your shopping at Jaxe & Grace Boutique, Frills by Scott, The Cobbler’s Bench, Madame Couture’s, LA Waters Furniture, Heirloom Antiques, Miracles, Southern Accent, House of Treasures, Charlie’s Funky Junk, Reflective Collective, Board & Brush, Free Spirit Pottery, Pladd Dot Music and Galactic Comic & Games.
