Downtown Picnic in Statesboro this Summer
By: Chabely Castillo
STATESBORO, Ga., June 27, 2019– Downtown Statesboro Development Authority will
host their annual Downtown Picnic July 5, from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm, on the courthouse lawn.
Here in South Georgia, we know how hot our summers can get. Join us on the first Friday of July
for some refreshing watermelon and homemade lemonade. We will also have a waterslide to
cool off from the summer heat.
As you walk around enjoying our complimentary refreshments you can stop at one of our many
vendors’ booths. In the background, you’ll hear wonderful live music as the warm breeze gently
touches your face. The trees are dancing and the birds are singing, you look up and see a light
blue sky. As the event goes on you begin to get hungry, you look around to see food truck after
food truck. As if your day can’t get any better.
This free event is perfect for everyone and includes a special performance by IMPACT.
IMPACT was founded in 2015 by Anthony Shelton, this group gives students the opportunity to
continue playing their instruments and hone their skills before the impending school year.
IMPACT is actually an acronym for Inspiring, Motivating, (through) Performing, Arts, Creative,
and Technology.
“I.M.P.A.C.T. has a dual mission of providing musical support to increase morale and provide
entertainment to the surrounding communities, as well as the state of GA, regionally, nationally,
and internationally.” according to Shelton. “Our priority is to provide a safe environment for all
youth, especially underprivileged kids. We will give them opportunities other than gangs or the
streets. Our GOAL is to change lives.”
This event is sponsored by Ark Plumbing, Statesboro Oral Surgery, American Roofing,
Tormenta FC, Manack Signature Properties, East Georgia Oral Surgery, Colony Bank, Zaxbys,
Hargray Fiber, and Renasant Bank. For more information contact the Downtown Statesboro
