Holiday Inn Express in Statesboro

March 5th, 2020, Holiday Inn Express opened up their doors to the public, not knowing what was going to happen a week after. The current pandemic did a great deal of impact on businesses, specifically hotels. Travel bans were put in place and reservations went down. But that hasn’t stopped Holiday Inn Express in Statesboro from finding new ways to help their customers feel welcome and safe.

Meagan Johnson Lee, Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Express Statesboro hotel, said:

“We have found new ways of reaching our customers for example: Facebook live tours and using Tik Tok videos to keep our audience engaged. We have also made many operational changes to allow us to continue offering our same great amenities and service while keeping our staff and guests safe. For example, when most hotels have stopped offering a hot breakfast, we have found a way to continue offering a full hot breakfast buffet that is safely served by one of our staff members instead of self-serve. Guests are presently surprised when they see that we have gone the extra mile for them and they love being served by our friendly breakfast attendants. We have also implemented IHG’s Clean Promise that extends on our IHG Way of Clean program and outlines a further commitment to maintaining clean and safe rooms for our guests.”

Like mentioned above, they also offer a FREE hot breakfast buffet every morning complete with warm gooey cinnamon rolls, omelets, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, pancakes, and fresh fruit.

If staying at the hotel for a while, they also have a one bedroom suite with a private bedroom, separate living room and kitchen areas perfect for extended stays.

When asked about why they wanted to open up in downtown, Meagan mentioned:

“We wanted to invest in the Blue Mile and the re-development of our downtown. We are also excited to provide a hotel option that is truly within walking distance of Georgia Southern University.”

In the near future, they do plan to partner with businesses on the Blue Mile to showcase local products in their lobby. They want to support downtown businesses that are open and find  new and creative ways to work together.
