Authenticity Is Key 

Have you ever had fresh authentic Mexican Food? Well now you can try it! The Blue Mile welcomes the new Tex Mex restaurant Azul. Azul specializes in genuine Mexican Food that is served fast but fresh.

The restaurant’s name Azul was inspired by the Blue Mile as well as the blue agave plant that is their logo. Since the color blue was such an inspiration to the restaurant the owners thought it was fitting to name the restaurant Azul which is the spanish name for the color. 

Lorena Cisneros, owner of Azul, said her favorite thing on the menu is the burrito. The restaurant has a “build your own burrito” feature so that customers may get whatever they please on it. They also serve fries, customers may get this on certain menu items or as a side. There are allergy friendly options as well as veggie options on the menu. The owners hope to be made aware of any food allergy before a customer places an order because they do sell shrimp as a topping. 

Jorge San Juan, says “We hope to create an environment that welcomes everyone for the long run.” 

The restaurant also has a walk up bar and will soon be serving your favorite drinks. The outdoor environment provides a welcoming and open atmosphere. There will be games added to the patio in the future that include corn hole and put put. 

Allen Muldrew, Executive Director at Downtown Statesboro Development Authority, says, “I am so excited for a new restaurant to open on the Blue Mile. At the DSDA we try to help and encourage businesses to open on the Blue Mile so it is always nice to see it payoff.” 

The restaurant is pet friendly but encourages customers to keep their furry friends on a leash. 

“We are ready to work and ready to serve anybody who comes up” says Lorena and Jorge.
